I am beginning a new series of paintings called Mordor - dedicated to russia's wars against Ukraine and other countries over the last hundred years (18).
This series is about more than history. It is about what I have seen up close -- my day-to-day interactions with russian citizens, the faces they show the world and the ones they do not. It is about how this state has spent a century twisting history, stealing land, stealing culture, stealing lives — and how ordinary people carry that with them, whether they admit it or not.
The works will be dark. Some will be quiet. All of them are honest.
